This is the first time any of us have had Buffalo anything. We love steak. Alright, being fair, we worship steak. However, when anyone has mentioned Buffalo we have always been curious yet cautious. I am quite familiar with cow and wouldn’t consider breaking off our loving relationship, but the idea of trying something leaner and better for us, has crossed my mind numerous times.
I know plenty of people that have had Buffalo, but until now I was pretty chicken about trying it myself. However, when I was picking out some review items from Nueskes I decided to pick up some Buffalo steaks, too, so we could finally give them a whirl.
The steaks arrived in freeze dried packaging. They were individually packaged and according to their website they come in packs of four and eight. Each steak is a half a pound in weight. These don’t take much time at all to thaw out. From what I have noticed they take less than a couple hours to thaw.
If you like regular steaks you won’t have any problem preparing Buffalo. This is done in the same ways that you do any other kind of steaks. You can broil them, fry them, or if the weather is right you can throw them on the grill. We opted for frying and like most other steaks we eat, we cooked them to about medium rare or less.
The steaks were amazing. I was scared when I took my first bite, but that all changed when I swallowed that bite. Buffalo steak is amazing. In fact, I cannot wait to try Buffalo burgers because I heard those were pretty good, too. The meat is leaner than cow meat and it’s got a slightly sweeter taste than cow. It tastes great though. I am sure that I will be eating Buffalo a lot more often from now on.
You can pick up a four pack of Buffalo Top Sirloin Steaks at Nueskes for $39.95. If four isn’t enough, eight steaks are available for $74.95. These are highly recommended if you love steak and are looking for a new, healthier alternative to the usual fare.
