AshtynsI am usually, admittedly, not a fan of frozen foods that are made as diet products. Many of them sound fabulous in theory. Unfortunately, what you end up with tends to be bland, limp, and otherwise unflattering.

These are the types of foods that make you assume they are diet because people would rather not eat them so that’s how they end up losing their weight. However, at times sacrifices have to be made. In my house, we have decided to start trying out some lower calorie options for lunches. We were losing some weight when we ate Lean Cuisines and other options, but after stopping it feels as if the weight is coming back so it’s time to get back on the horse.

For dinner last night, I found some Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas in the freezer. I decided to give them a whirl. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. I did add some Taco Bell Mild Sauce and some Nonfat Sour Cream, but otherwise it was all SmartOnes. The benefits here are that these are easy to make. You can have two cooked in the microwave in less than five minutes. I tried these in the microwave, though normally I would have baked them. However, due to a stove snafu, things in that department were not working and thus, accommodations needed to be made.

I have tried various SmartOnes meals before, as well as their desserts, breakfast items, and their Anytime Selections. These quesadillas are by far the best of what they have to offer. The chicken was plump, the peppers were mild, and there was a delicious cheese sauce bringing it all together. My expectations were incredibly low, but I was shocked at how good these were. I let my boyfriend, Dom, have a bite, thinking maybe I was delusional, but he commented on how good they were, too. He even went as far as looking up SmartOnes because he wanted to know what other kinds of quesadillas and other similar food options were available.

One of these Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas is about 220 calories with 70 of those calories from fat. I just popped one in last night on its own though if you are hungrier this would go great with a salad, some refried beans, or possibly some Mexican rice.

If you are looking for a Mexican style diet option, give SmartOnes Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas a try. You won’t be disappointed.
